The National Testing Agency introduced the Common University Entrance Test (CUET), earlier known as CUCET (UG), for admission into all UG programs in all Central Universities, for the academic session 2022-23. The test will be taken in English, Hindi, Punjabi, Bengali, Odia, Assamese, Gujarati, Marathi, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil, and Urdu in a computer-based manner (CBT). A required language test, two domain-specific tests, and a generic test will be included in the CUET 2022 question paper.
The motive of introducing this test was to provide a common platform and equal opportunities to candidates across the nation, especially the ones belonging to rural areas and hence having less exposure to resources.

Overall, the exam will be beneficial in eliminating the dissimilarity between the different boards (ISC, HSC, CBSE) and will act as a backup option for students preparing for mainstream entrances.
Online submission of the application form has started on 6th April 2022 and the window will remain open until 6th May 2022 (up to 5:00 pm). Admit cards will be released in the first week of June and the exam itself will be conducted sometime around the first and second week of July 2022. To apply and sit for CUET 2022, candidates must meet the Central Universities’ eligibility requirements. The following are the criteria for eligibility:
UG: To be admitted to bachelor’s degree programs at Central Universities, students must have completed Class 12 from a recognized board in the Science stream. In order to be eligible for the CUET 2022, candidates must have obtained a minimum of 50% in Class 12 in the General category, and a minimum of 45 percent in Class 12 in the SC/ST category. For BTech programmes, the general category candidates must have a minimum aggregate of 45 percent, while reserved category students must have a minimum aggregate of 40 percent.
PG : Candidates seeking a master’s degree must have completed a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university. To be eligible for CUET 2022, candidates must have obtained a minimum of 55% (General)/ 50% (SC/ST) in their Bachelor’s degree field or a different degree field.
Ph.D.: For PhD programs, applicants must hold a Master’s degree from a recognized university or institute in order to be considered for admission to research programs. The candidate must also have a minimum of 55 percent (Genera)/ 50 percent (SC/ST).
Note: Candidates who have passed the UGC-CSIR JRF, GATE, NBHM, or any other national level examination are not required to take the admission exam. The candidate must, however, enroll for CUET 2022.
Syllabus for CUET 2022
The NTA has issued the CUET 2022 curriculum along with the official announcement. The CUET syllabus will be at the same level as the NCERT Class 12 curriculum. English, General Aptitude, Numerical Aptitude/Data Interpretation, Analytical Skills, Reasoning, and General Knowledge are all included subjects within the CUET syllabus. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has provided a subject-by-subject syllabus for pupils to use when studying for the exam.
