Elden Ring: Should You burn the Erdtree?

As you progress through Elden Ring’s main story, you’ll have to make a difficult choice: whether or not to burn the Erdtree. What do you think about that? Are there other options? Let’s find out.

Do I have to burn the Erdtree in Elden Ring?

The Erdtree must be destroyed in order to advance in the main story. In order to progress to the final boss, you must start a fire in the tree. Doing it yourself or having Melina do it for you is your choice. You will be unable to proceed unless you burn the Erdtree.

What happens after burning the Erdtree?

The Royal Capital of Leyndell becomes Leyndell, the Ashen Capital, following the destruction of the Erdtree. The sewers are now inaccessible due to the blockage of most entrances and items. However, the well in the Ashen Capital’s lowest section can still be used to descend into the sewers if necessary.

In addition, most of the NPCs in the Roundtable Hold will either disappear or die in the upcoming events. In this case, Roderika and Smith are the exceptions. As a result, nearly all of the game’s quests are now unavailable.

What to do before burning the Erdtree

Make sure you have everything you need before setting the Erdtree alight:

  • Explore the sewers and the area surrounding the Royal Capital.
  • Complete all of the side missions.
  • In the capital, you can obtain the fabled Spear of Destiny.
  • Grab the Bolt of Gransax, a legendary weapon.
  • Getting the Rune of Perfect Order requires finishing the Corhyn and Goldmask questline.
  • Complete Dung Eater’s quest path.

After burning the Erdtree in Elden Ring, what should one do next?

You’ll be teleported to Crumbling Farum Azul after burning the Erdtree. There are flying dragons and tornadoes in this area. The Malikth area’s final boss must be defeated. Defeating the final boss in the Ashen Capital will return you to the main campaign.
