If you are Blogger who monetises their web content using Google Adsense and their account got limited due to ‘invalid traffic activity’ then read to find the exact reason.
Recently I got a lot of messages from fellow Bloggers whose Adsense accounts were limited, due to invalid traffic activity, as stated by Google. But deep inside after witnessing a surge in the the number of accounts getting limited, it seemed that there was something wrong.
Google has revved up its Policy
Because of the pandemic and its effects on ad rates, Google has recently intensified the policing of fraudulent traffic. To ensure that ad rates stay as high as possible, Google aims to remove as many negative actors from the ecosystem as they can.
So if your account was limited it might be some of your traffic was detected as invalid as per the Google’s AI. Now if you know it Google never discloses the exact reason or traffic that caused the trigger, but here’s how you can prevent it.
Improving Traffic Quality
During my early days when this website had close to zero traffic the majority of few traffic came from social media and other direct sources. Adsense notoriously finds this traffic as invalid whenver there is a sudden surge in social media traffic.
Now, I really feel sorry for the new bloggers who have a fine piece getting huge hits but Adsense doesn’t find it real good :/
If you are planning to monetise social media traffic websites then please look out for other alternatives, Google Ad Exchange Partners can be a good go if you feel you can get a hold on them.
Your Website was Click Bombed
Your site just started to grow but some one clicked your ads too many times, or even you yourself clicked your websites’ ads. To let you know Google refrains you from clicking your own website ads even if it was a genuine interest.
You should never click your own ads, neither encourage someone to do it, nor have a poor website layout where elements of website are too close that generates a false click.
Google has started banning a lot of accounts
If you were willingly taking a part in fraudlent activity beware that Google itself has started closing down a lot many adsense accounts, as a result you won’t be able to apply for Adsense again and even some Ad Exchange partners will deny a seat to you like Ezoic.
Conclusion
If you are new Blogger and had your Adsense account limited look out for audience location which had insanely high RPMs which may have triggered the issue. Try blocking them using Cloudflare. Or if you were just unlucky and hit by this Google Adsense Update then you can only wait for Google to lift up the Account limit which usually can take 7-30 days.
